The Pennsylvania Homecare Association Celebrates Home Care and Hospice Month
November 14, 2023PHA recognizes the work of nurses, aides, social workers, and therapists during home care and hospice month.
Lemoyne, Pa. (Nov. 14, 2023). — In November, the spotlight shines on the unsung heroes of healthcare – the home health nurses, home care aides, therapists, and social workers who dedicate themselves to enhancing the lives of countless patients and their families. These vital caregivers hold a pivotal role in our healthcare system and within thousands of homes nationwide. The Pennsylvania Homecare Association (PHA) is proud to partner with our fellow industry advocates to highlight and celebrate home and community-based providers during National Home Care & Hospice Month.
With an aging population, where 10,000 Americans reach the age of 65 every day, the demand for healthcare services is on an unrelenting rise, pushing costs to new heights. During this challenge, home care and hospice services perform their due diligence to protect seniors and people with disabilities in Pennsylvania. They not only stand as the preferred choice for many patients, but homebased care providers also offer the most substantial cost savings among other aging services.
Consider this: the average Pennsylvanian spends approximately $10,403 per month for a conventional nursing home stay. In contrast, the cost of home care amounts to less than $5,000 per month, making it not only an economical choice but a profound contributor to the independence and enriched lives of countless seniors and people with disabilities, allowing them to remain in the comfort of their homes and stay connected with the loved ones they cherish.
“Every day, the lives of hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians are directly impacted by this essential workforce,” said CJ Rambler, President of the Pennsylvania Homecare Association Board of Directors. “We are proud to provide tools and resources to help increase community awareness around the life-sustaining work these individuals perform daily.”
In support of Home Care and Hospice Month, PHA is pleased to announce our comprehensive media kit, featuring a wealth of resources to help raise awareness. This kit includes high-resolution images, graphics, and important statistics highlighting the impact of home care and hospice services. Additionally, we are providing social media post templates, making it effortless for individuals and organizations to express their gratitude and recognition for the remarkable caregivers who provide essential support to our communities.
As we celebrate the caregivers who touch our lives, we encourage everyone to join us in recognizing their invaluable contributions.
